Burdekin Distillery is a North Queensland rum producer focused on capturing the true character of Australia’s sugarcane heartland. Built on a paddock to bottle philosophy, the distillery creates premium cane spirits that reflect the region’s terroir, combining local ingredients, innovation, and a strong sense of place.
Burdekin Distillery was founded by Tim Lamb, alongside founder and director Anthony Duggan, with a vision to transform locally grown sugarcane into world class rum. Coming from a background in mineral water production, Lamb identified an opportunity to diversify into distilling, using the same natural resources and regional advantages to create a uniquely Australian product.
Established in 2020, Burdekin Distillery is located near Mount Elliot in North Queensland, within one of Australia’s most productive sugarcane regions. Operating as a small but rapidly growing craft distillery, the business produces agricole style rum using fresh cane juice and mineral water sourced from its own aquifer. With a farm based setup and custom distillation equipment, it has quickly gained recognition both locally and internationally.
